Viticulture Conference: From Soil to Bottle. Effective Vineyard Management and Market Development
During the upcoming 15th edition of the Fruit and Vegetable Industry Fair, to be held on January 22-23, 2025 in Kielce, we organized a special Vine Conference entitled "From Soil to Bottle: Effective Vineyard Management and Market Development". This event is aimed at both winemakers with many years of experience and people just planning to set up a vineyard. The conference aims to present the full cycle of wine production – from the selection of a suitable place for a vineyard and the cultivation management, to the introduction of the finished product to the market.
As part of the conference, participants will have the opportunity to listen to several interesting lectures given by industry experts.
The first lecture, entitled “The Ideal Vineyard: How to Choose and Prepare a Site for High Quality Cultivation?” will be given by Iwona Polewska-Jankowiak. The speaker will discuss the key factors that affect the choice of a vineyard location, such as terrain exposure, slope and soil type. The presentation will also include methods for improving soil structure to increase fertility and improve drainage, resulting in a higher crop quality.
The second lecture, entitled “Biostimulation in the Vineyard: How to Reduce Plant Stress and Increase Plant Resilience?” will be given by Dariusz Pietrusiński. The topic will be bio stimulation of grapevines, which supports their ability to survive harsh weather conditions, such as drought, frost or disease. Participants will learn which bio stimulants to use to increase plant immunity and improve crop quality.
Another highlight of the program will be the lecture “Powdery Mildew or Downy Mildew? The Most Dangerous Diseases of the Vineyard and How to Fight Them,” which will be given by Professor Magdalena Kaplan. In this lecture, participants will learn which form of mildew is more dangerous to grapevines and which methods, both conventional and biological, are most effective in fighting these diseases. The speaker will also present the importance of adjuvants in improving the effectiveness of vineyard protection.
Professor Krzysztof Lisek will deliver a lecture entitled “Frost in the Vineyard: Varietal Responses and Effective Protection Methods,” which will address issues related to frost resistance of various grape varieties. The results of long-term research on the impact of frost on grapevine yield will be presented, as well as protection techniques such as over-crown sprinkling, heating and the use of cryoprotectants.
The conference will end with a debate entitled “From Harvest to Market - Strategic Management of the Wine Production and Distribution Process,” in which Tomasz Baranski, Magdalena Kaplan, Piotr Stopczynski and Agnieszka Pączko will take part. The discussion will focus on the challenges winemakers face post-harvest, including managing the wine production process, its marketing and effective distribution. The participants in the debate will share their experiences and present best practices in effective winery management.
We cordially invite all interested parties to participate in this conference, which is an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge from experts and exchange experiences among winemaking enthusiasts.
